Alumni Officer – Temporary Contract (August 2016 – July 2017) Office of Development and Alumni Engagement
We are looking for a temporary Alumni Officer to work within assigned school chapter(s) to promote and deliver alumni engagement services and initiatives aligned with the business plan of the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement. This includes outreach to the current student population, particularly graduating students. Reporting to the Manager of Alumni Engagement, the incumbent will be responsible for executing a school-specific engagement strategy comprised of communication touch points and a variety of events to increase alumni awareness and engagement. The incumbent will also be responsible for assisting with other College-wide Alumni events and initiatives, as well be the lead on one Alumni Signature Event each year.
Responsibilities
School Chapter Plan
- Responsible for implementing alumni initiatives within assigned school chapter(s)
- Immerse into the life of an assigned school(s) to understand school-specific alumni needs and identify opportunities for further growth and development
- Implement the Alumni Touch Campaign (minimum of 12 touches/year/school)
- Oversee and implement one Alumni Signature Event
- Provide input to communications related to assigned school chapter(s), providing school-specific content to writing and marketing staff
- Assist and/or coordinate school-specific event strategy and logistics within scope of chapter plan, including reunions and third party events
- Be on-site at assigned school chapter(s), minimum of one (1) day/week
- Work with the Dean/Chair/Faculty of the assigned school chapter(s) and the Senior Development Officer to identify, qualify, cultivate, engage and steward respective Alumni
- Attend individual meetings with Alumni to gather feedback, provide information and engage where appropriate
- Strengthen the connection with current students within assigned school chapter(s) by conducting regular classroom visits to discuss benefits and services of being an Alumnus
- Attend and represent the College’s Alumni Engagement Office as a guest speaker at offsite and departmental events, student club events, community events and meetings
- Assist with execution of College-wide Alumni initiatives (e.g. orientations, service fairs, Alumni Awareness events, student club events, community events and meetings
- Responsible for all moves management in Raiser’s Edge relating to Alumni within assigned school chapter(s)
- Responsible for a predetermined budget of alumni engagement initiatives within assigned school chapter(s)
- Prepare and provide monthly summaries and reports on chapter activities including budget expenses to the Team Lead, School Chapters and Manager, Alumni Engagement
- Other duties as required

Qualifications
- 3 year diploma/degree in one of the following fields of study: Marketing, Public Relations, Community Services, Business Administration, Donor Relations, Fundraising Development
- Minimum (3) three years’ experience in a membership association coordinating events, membership/volunteer activities
- Minimum (3) three years’ in a customer-service environment
- Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating events
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Proven ability to problem solve issues
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) preferred
- Comfortable working with fundraising databases, Raiser’s Edge experience a definite asset
- Self-starter and quick learner
