POSITION SUMMARY The Audio Visual (A/V) Coordinator will act as the primary support person for all Audio Visual requests at the University of St. Michael’s College and will coordinate and schedule room-bookings as required. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering, setting up, retrieving and trouble-shooting all Audio/Video equipment across the school. The incumbent will provide day-to-day technical support for all University employees and community members in the maintenance and troubleshooting of problems relating to A/V equipment. The University’s community is a busy environment and it is expected that the incumbent will have a positive and flexible approach to working on a reactive basis. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform high-level Audio/Visual Equipment Support Services
- Coordinate with Conference Services, Facilities & Services, department heads, University of Toronto, and/or other external parties to provide necessary A/V services for meetings, events, and conferences.
- Consults with academics, staff and clients to determine the teleconferencing and videoconferencing needs.
- Schedule and coordinate classroom bookings.
- Schedules the equipment for the courses and events.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate the various aspects of workspace and classroom reservations to maximize utilization
- Install and configure A/V equipment.
- Identify needs, obtain quotes when necessary, and make purchasing decisions for A/V-related items and systems.
- Forge and foster positive relationships with service contractors and other vendors.
- Coordinate hardware procurement, arranging vendor product demonstrations, trial equipment, managing asset inventories and stock levels.
- Ensure A/V and IT equipment is ready or repaired in a timely manner using technical skills or sending offsite for complicated repairs.
- Define and create standard operating procedures for the daily technical work of the A/V unit.
- Uses discretion and professionalism, as well as decision making and problem solving skills.
- Other duties or responsibilities may arise as a result of changes in department or staffing needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and training.
- Experience with complex A/V equipment
- Experience coordinating, booking, or scheduling facilities.
- Knowledge of techniques, materials and equipment used in A/V technology
- Detail-oriented
- Experience in an academic environment an asset
- Exemplary work ethic
- Ability to work and learn independently
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Kind and collaborative demeanour
- Considerable experience with working with professionals is required
