Description
:
The
Shipper/Receiver/Driver is responsible for processing all shipments. This
includes, but is not limited to: checking, tracking and streamlining of the
mail process, boxing, packaging, posting, selection of courier, preparation for
courier pickup, assisting with security and staffing the loading dock, dealing
with all incoming vendors and delivery vehicles, loading of incoming and
outgoing shipments, and delivery of same to library destinations. Also
provides
back-up for other staff and performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
:
(MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
EDUCATION:
High school
graduation required.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of one year of related experience required.
Experience with postal regulations and the use of postal equipment desirable.
Basic knowledge of various courier and cross border custom regulations, as well
as shipping and delivery equipment, desirable. Experience in driving delivery
vehicles, up to and including box vans, required. Familiarity with U of T
policies and procedures desirable. Experience using computerized software based
system for the shipping/receiving functions as well as working knowledge of all
couriers and Canada Post automated systems.
SKILLS:
Working knowledge of shipping software/hardware such
as Neipost and/or Pitney Bowes automated systems.
Knowledge of U of T regulations and codes desirable. Project
coordination and negotiating skills required. Advanced knowledge of postal and
customs rules and regulations required. Proficiency working with MS Office
suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) or equivalent and web-based software
applications required; good keyboarding skills

Possession of valid driver’s license, with the
proper class for the vehicle being used, required.
