HEALTH PROMOTION SPECIALIST
ENGAGEMENT & PROGRAM DELIVERY
The Health Promotion Specialist is accountable to the Manager, Health System Programs for the management of
health promotion initiatives within Health System Programs;
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Research, evaluate and write research papers on health promotion topics in consultation with the Manager,
Health System Programs;
• Monitor policy developments, research and trends in health promotion in Ontario and internationally;
• Write articles for OMR and other member communication pieces on health promotion issues;
• Participate in the development and implementation of the OMA’s health promotion workplan in collaboration with
the Manager, Health System Programs;
• Identify and advise health promotion opportunities for OMA engagement using health journals, media trends
and stakeholder contact;
• Work cross-functionally, formally and informally, with other internal departments to align priorities and identify
mutual objectives and support internal communication;
• Attend working group and committees, as assigned, including internal, bilateral and multi-stakeholder
committees;
• Develop close working relationships with various OMA resources (departments, Board, committees, sections,
individual members, etc.) and develop and maintain contacts and alliances with external groups, including
representatives or other medical associations, government bodies, business and other consumer groups, other
health care providers and others as appropriate.
Education: Master´s degree (preferred) or Undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent combination
of education and experience
Experience: 5 years experience required in the health care or health promotion field including demonstrated knowledge
and experience in health promotion
