Technology Analyst
Position Summary:
The Technology Analyst is directly responsible for the administration, maintenance and management of the Software AG webMethods product suite across OLG’s IT infrastructure with specific mandate of providing solutions to Production Support and Implementation Support to Projects. This position requires 24x7x365 service.
Major Responsibility Areas:
- Provide installation, configuration, administration, maintenance and management of all Software AG webMethods components, including, but not limited to, all Integration Server (IS), Broker, Adapter(s), My webMethods Server (MWS), Mediator, EntireX, Insight, CentraSite, Optimize, Terracotta on AIX platform in multiple environments (Development, Test, Staging, Production and DR).
- Provide on-going production support for implemented webMethods based services and solution including troubleshooting and resolution of production support tickets in terms of severity. Perform root cause analysis, diagnose and correlate all necessary information to determine the appropriate course of action, and escalate unresolved issues as appropriate.
- Schedule, test and deploy regular fixes, patches, upgrades and packages to Pre-Production and Production environment. Create new instances and refresh existing Development and Test environment. Configure and update SSL certificates for webMethods components as required.
- Work across teams to ensure the highest level platform performance, availability and disaster recovery. Identify opportunities for tuning enhancements to components such as, but not limited to, OS (AIX) and JVM configurations, Broker client usage and configuration, session management, IS resource configurations and extended settings.
- Provide production support requirements and conduct operational readiness review for all packaged and custom-built products and framework components prior to promotion to production environment based on defined processes and procedures of the operations acceptance Package (OAP).
- Develop and execute DRP and FRP tests for all supported systems and applications in accordance with the target level in the Service Continuity’s DRP Readiness Report. Perform the annual DR test for Software AG webMethods components and webMethods based solutions.
- Develop and maintain of documentation for supported systems and applications including architecture diagrams, technical specifications, failure response procedures (FRP) and disaster recovery procedures (DRP). Ensure all operational and support documentations are up to date.
- Provide technical support and implementation services for all supported systems and applications to meet project expectation. Ensure work packages and project deliverables are completed according to the project schedule and meeting project commitments.
- Provide technical support to ensure all supported systems and applications stay within the guidelines of security, internal / external audit standards and conform to regulations and directives from regulators.
- Participate in periodic Change Managent meetings to ensure the impact of Change initiatives by other stakeholders is understood and planned for, and documented processes are in place and followed so that Changes can be deployed in an expedited and incident free manner.
- Participate in periodic Problem Management and Post Mortem meetings to ensure corrective action to resolve system and infrastructure applications issues is documented and followed through. Lead and interact with vendors and other IT technical domains to determine root cause, problem resolution and preventative measure.
- On call 24 hours a day 7 days a week on a rotation basis; on occasion will have to be at the office outside of normal working hours; occasional travel within the province may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum:
- Education level of a University Degree, College Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent
- Three (3) years administration and supporting experience of an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) environment built on webMethods applications suite in UNIX (AIX)
- Demonstrated production support experience of the webMethods core integration products – Integration Server, Broker, My webMethods Server and Adapter(s)
- Experience with SOA framework and Web Services
- Experience with ESB design patterns and service oriented integration methods
- Creative problem solver. Demonstrated knowledge of problem analysis, determination and resolution skills in similar capacity and technology profile
- Demonstrated trend analysis and report development skills
- Working knowledge of service management disciplines and tools (Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration Management, etc.) with a clear understanding of customer impact and business requirement. ITIL certification is a bonus
- Working knowledge of IT Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process and standards with a clear understanding of all phases of development cycle from specification, design, build, test/debug, documentation, service implementation and maintenance
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and Interpersonal skills
- Strong time management, prioritization and organization skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with various levels of staff and management.
Technical Skills:
Demonstrated and proven hands-on working knowledge and experience of the following:
- webMethods product suite version 8.x or above
- Proficient in webMethods Integration Server, Broker and My WebMethods Server setup, installation, configuration and tuning
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnosis skills in connectivity and performance related issues. Ability to analyze and interpret server logs, error logs, memory and CPU utilization, thread usage, SQL statement
- SOA technologies and protocols including Java (web and client/server), JMS, XML, XSLT, XML schema, WSDL, WS-* standards, SOAP, BPEL
- Operating Systems including Virtualization (AIX, PowerVM, OpenVMS, Windows, VMware)
- Relational databases (DB2, MS-SQL, Oracle)
- Continuous Availability and Clustering solutions using Tangosol, Terracotta and F5 BIG-IP
- Security solutions and products for authentication and authorization of web-based applications and services (ACLs, LDAP, HTTP/S, SSL, Certificate Management)
- Networking and distributed computing environment concepts, networking protocols, LAN and WAN networking technology
Experience and/or accreditation in the following would be an asset:
- Knowledge and working experience of WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere MQ and Message Broker, TIBCO ActiveMatrix SOA
- webMethods Certified ESB Developer
- Sun or Oracle Certified Java Programmer
