- Clean and maintain all public and office areas, including washrooms, showers, the courtyard and
external surrounding areas at all West Neighbourhood House locations;
- Sweep, wash, vacuum, mop, strip and wax floors and washrooms;
- Pick up and dispose of garbage, recycling, and organics;
- Disinfect common surface areas;
- Clean windows, glass, and mirrors according to established schedules or as required;
- Dust furniture, computers and fixtures;
- respond to and clean as a result of an emergency (e.g. spills, some of which may contain body fluids;
- Work in a safe manner following all appropriate health and safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure the security of the building during and after completed jobs and report any security issues to
management;
- Monitor public areas and keep those are tidy and orderly as necessary or according to stated
preferences;
- Assist with conducting minor repairs to the building systems, premises or its physical assets;
- Maintain and store cleaning supplies and advise when additional supplies need to be ordered;
- Notify supervisor of problems and when items are worn out;
- Travel between all locations;
- Assist with special cleaning projects and perform other duties as directed by the Operations Manager
or Property Maintenance Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in cleaning public buildings and offices;
- Ability to clean and maintain all areas of heavily used multi-story public locations; lift over 20 lbs,
travel between locations (public transit available), work outside, and climb stairs and ladders;
- Experience using motorised cleaning equipment, (i.e. floor buffer, vacuum), commercial cleaning
solvents and other products required for building maintenance and of building operations;
- Knowledge of health and safety policies and practices, fire code, building code, and safe lifting and
handling procedures;

- First-aid training and WHIMIS certification is an asset;
- Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact collegially with staff,
participants, volunteers and outside service providers;
- Ability to work weekday evenings if needed.
Status: Permanent Part Time
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 6 hours per week (Saturday 4 – 7 p.m. and Sunday 7 – 10 p.m.)
Rate: $16.85 per hour
