Role and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains promotional material for 3 significant campaigns: Partners in Mission, Gifts of Hope and Sponsorship in addition to any future campaigns that the World Missions office undertakes.
- Coordinates, plans and writes the content for quarterly newsletters.
- Writes articles for various print and on-line publications, and develops content for social media eg. twitter, facebook etc.
- Provides strategic and operational support to marketing and media initiatives for the World Missions department.
- Supports the World Missions office with innovative presentations strategies and ideas to engage Salvationists and the public in the ministry of World Missions.
- Organizes and maintains media library of relevant video, photos and internet links.
- Provides articles for Salvation Army periodicals within Canada and the International Salvation Army as required.
- Provides technical support for the World Missions office.
- Provides additional administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Completed 2 years of Community College or degree in relevant field
- Experience in communications, public relations or equivalent combination of education.
- 1 to 3 years of prior experience, including communications, media, public speaking and experience in a not-for-profit environment.
- Presentation of Portfolio preferable.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, design software and website management.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, In-design and Acrobat.
- Creative and attentive to details.
- Solid interpersonal and donor support skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum of supervision.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Understanding and support of the mission of The Salvation Army in an International context.
- May require readiness to travel internationally.
