Maintenance Mechanic  - Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre - Toronto, ON

Summary of Duties

• Carry out repairs to pumps, motors, fans, and a variety of other mechanical and electronic equipment throughout the Hospital as assigned.
  


• Repair patient beds and wheelchairs as required.
  


• Perform regular preventative maintenance on mechanical and electronic devices throughout the Hospital as assigned.
  


• Prepare and layout own material.
  


• Demonstrated good ability to solve problems and work on own initiative.
  


• Repairing, re-keying and installing new lock sets.
  


• Replacing hinges, repairing and re-aligning of doors
  


• Repairing, replacing, adjusting compaonents for entrance, exit doors, closers, electric strikes, magnetic hold opens
  


• Complete routine & preventative maintenance of door systems.
  


• Carry out other mechanic and locksmithing duties as assigned
  

Qualifications/Skills

• Minimum Secondary School completion plus completion of Trade and Apprenticeship program required
  


• Must have current valid Province of Ontario Certificate of Qualification as a Millwright
  


• Current provincial certification in welding required
  


• Recent related experience as a mechanic essential, ideally in a hospital/healthcare setting
  


• Minimum 2 years’ experience & training by a recognized locksmithing facility
  


• Demonstrated ability to read mechanical blueprints and a basic understanding of electrical principles required.
  


• Demonstrated experience and ability to perform welding and electrical repairs required.
  


• Maintenance experience essential
  


• Demonstrated customer service focus and proven verbal and written communication skills
