Research Associate - Cancer Care Ontario - Toronto, ON

The Research Associate will support the Evaluation portfolio of Cancer Screening.

The Cancer Screening Program is part of the Prevention and Cancer Control Portfolio at Cancer Care Ontario (CCO). Cancer Screening focuses on the delivery of Ontario’s three cancer screening programs: ColonCancerCheck, the Ontario Breast Screening Program, and the Ontario Cervical Screening Program. Four units make up Cancer Screening:


· Program Design


· Implementation


· Operations


· Quality Management & QMP


The position is part of the Quality Management (QM) unit. The Research Associate (RA) will work closely with the Evaluation Team Lead and will play an integral role in the design, and implementation of screening program evaluations and reports. In addition to collaborating with the Evaluation and other Quality Management teams, including Analytics and Research and Quality Assurance, the RA will work closely with screening program design leads and scientists, clinicians and screening program staff to coordinate input into our products from across cancer screening. Experience facilitating information gathering, with analytics and business analysis software and in presenting quantitative and qualitative information in a variety of mediums for a variety of professional audiences is required.


RESPONSIBILITIES/RESPONSABILITÉS:


The key responsibilities of this position are/Les principales responsabilités de ce poste sont:


· Design and develop cancer screening evaluations, and program and project reports in support of evaluation and performance management


· Develop and apply rigorous and advanced epidemiologic and statistical methodologies to evaluations and reports


· Plan analytics and analyze data using SAS statistical software independently and/or in collaboration with team members


· Design and implement strategies and methodology for the advanced display of screening data and information


· In collaboration with analytical staff and scientists, review program data, interpret results, and prepare recommendations based on evaluations


· Develop and deliver written and oral communications, including technical evaluation reports and presentations to a variety of professional audiences in order to inform and communicate strategically


· Contribute to the delivery of complex, high-priority projects and products


· Contribute to research and evaluation design and the methodological aspects of projects and reports conducted within Cancer Care Ontario and by external agencies


· Collaborate on projects both within CCO and with external partners (including linking Cancer Care Ontario to major national and international initiatives)


· Collaborate with other researchers in developing new tools/methods, training materials, documented programs, data quality reports and related deliverables


QUALIFICATIONS/QUALIFICATIONS:


· At minimum, completion of a Master’s degree program in health care, biostatistics, epidemiology, or recognized equivalent


· At least two years related experience in applying epidemiologic concepts to solve complex problems such as in indicator / performance reporting and evaluation


· Project management skills an asset


· Demonstrated analytic skills using SAS and strong interpretive skills


· Ability to demonstrate time management skills to manage and prioritize responsibilities and timelines


· Comfortable working in fast-paced environments


· Qualitative research experience an asset


· Strong ability to manipulate data with spreadsheet, database, and other analytical software


· Detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking and negotiating skills


· Experience in critically appraising scientific literature


· Experience designing and generating reports using business intelligence applications, such as Tableau, an asset


· Superior and demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills


· Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment


· Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility and respect


· Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and works well with others


· Familiarity with cancer screening or cancer in Canada is an asset
