Position Overview
The Senior Analyst, Research & Development will be a part of the Research & Development unit in the Pricing Centre of Excellence. You will support the pricing and underwriting objectives of the business through the use of advanced analytics. Reporting to the Manager, Research & Development, you will enhance our analytics capability through innovation and will embed best practices throughout pricing and underwriting analytics teams. About the Pricing Centre of Excellence in Canada: Pricing sophistication is a key business priority for RSA and an important area of investment to empower us to be more competitive. As the industry landscape and customer expectations evolve, our objective is to be more sophisticated in our risk understanding and to be more agile in responding to changing customer needs by having deeper insights in our pricing. In order to bring RSA in line with best-in-class pricing capabilities, we recently created a Pricing Centre of Excellence (COE) in Canada and have substantially increased its resources. The Pricing COE contains Core personal lines pricing units, as well as a dedicated Research and Development unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly developing team focused on driving pricing innovation and best practices in order to make a material difference to our business.

What you will achieve in this role
Specific duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop new predictive models to be used for pricing and underwriting;
- Drive modelling sophistication through research and analysis of advanced statistical techniques;
- Design, build and maintain market-leading rating algorithms;
- Develop, enhance, and promote modelling best practices, including providing training to junior analysts and other teams;
- Investigate, develop, and enhance data quality and data manipulation processes;
- Contribute to the development of winning pricing strategies; and
- Engage, support, and influence business partners to drive pricing sophistication and deliver results What you bring to this role
- University/College or Master degree in actuarial science, mathematics, econometrics or statistics;
- Minimum 3+ years relevant pricing/predictive analytics experience or relevant statistical experience;
- Technical expertise in predictive analytics, ideally including experience with SAS, R, Emblem, and Radar; * Out-of-the-box thinker, always striving for the next innovation;
- Proven ability to turn innovative insight into implementable value-driving solutions
- Demonstrated success in people, project, and relationship management;
- Knowledge of property and casualty insurance; and
- Outstanding communication skills (both oral and written)
Other Information This is a permanent, full-time position that will be based out of the Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada office. The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience and will range from CAD $53,400.00 to $80,400.00. The position is eligible for an annual bonus between 0% to 20% of regular earnings, based on financial and performance metrics. The position also offers health and dental plan insurance benefits and 3 weeks of vacation time.
