Security Specialist (17 Months Term) - Greater Toronto Airports Authority - Toronto, ON

Reporting to the Manager, Security Operations Control this position is responsible for dispatching and coordinating security response by monitoring, evaluating and transmitting information to responding agencies; acting as a central communications point, assisting in the overall coordination of all security related events, identified by the Specialist, and initiated through the Perspective logging system; maintaining airport security by monitoring airport access control computer systems; observing and recording the responder activities through the use of the GTAA camera system.

Job Description


Key Accountabilities:
Responsible for monitoring access control systems and dispatching resources as required


Responsible for monitoring camera systems in support of access control systems and independently


Central communication point for all security incidents at TPIA (Toronto Pearson International Airport)


Coordinate maintenance of all security related systems (hardware and software)


Coordinate access for special events, construction, urgent maintenance, etc


Monitor and assist in the coordination of operations within the terminal and airside such as swing operations, maintenance shutdowns, PSL (Primary Security Line) displacements, construction, DCA (Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport) operations, baggage operations.


Assist employees with RAIC (Restricted Area Identification Card)/keycard issues


Assessment of unattended items and dispatch of appropriate resources


Security system SME (Subject Matter Expert) assisting internal departments and external agencies by providing direction for security related matters


Job Requirements


Qualifications:
Must possess a post-secondary diploma or degree or an acceptable combination of education and/or experience


Must possess 3 years’ experience in an airport environment or security operations


Call center or dispatching experience will be considered an asset


Must possess strong computer and computer keyboarding skills with an ability to obtain a minimum keyboarding speed of 40 words per minute.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful incumbent will have a strong knowledge of GTAA Emergency Response procedures


Familiarity with airside, groundside and terminal layouts. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and oral, written and listening communication skills


Must possess excellent multi-tasking skills


Must be proficient in the use of all MS Office software programs


Must be familiar with federal security legislation and corporate protocols


Ability to work under periods of stress during emergencies and high volume workloads


Must have understanding of life safety monitoring systems and related interface with security systems
